hillwalkerhillwalker 24 posts Joined Nov 2012 | Has anyone found any software that will check the shutter count of a 6D? I have EOSCount for Mac, which worked perfectly with my 7D. However, the 6D is not supported, which I confirmed with the EOSCount developer. 6D | 35L | 17-40L | 50 1.4 | 430EXII LOG IN TO REPLY |

Since EOSCount for Mac does not support the 6D, I turned to gphoto2 given recommendations elsewhere in the forum. It worked well to read the shutter count. Here is what I did: 1) Install Xcode from the Apple app store. 2) Then I installed the homebrew package manager at http://brew.sh/ 3) Next, I installed gphoto2 using the following at the terminal: 4) Finally, after connecting my camera, I ran: and Got the instructions for that here: http://www.twam.info …s-7d-shuttercount-on-os-x 6D | 35L | 17-40L | 50 1.4 | 430EXII LOG IN TO REPLY |

Unfortunately, that is not a persistent/continual shutter count. Only way to obtain actual shutter count for the body on a 6D or 7D is through one of the tools: EOSCount, gphoto2, FoCal, etc. Kind of a bummer really. 6D | 35L | 17-40L | 50 1.4 | 430EXII LOG IN TO REPLY |

I get various and inconsistant results under identical circumstances. Extremely sensitive to lighting and camera conditions while testing. This software does alot of various sundry tests besides MA. These seem to function correctly. Hopefully version 2.0 will be more stable. Dave LOG IN TO REPLY |

I just got my 6D and still going through all the different settings and menus. My T1i didn't nearly have as many options/settings! It seems he is using gphoto2 to count the shutter. Why do you say it is not persistent? LOG IN TO REPLY |
